Advocacy

The Client Advocacy Program at PARC is designed to provide direct services to people impacted by sexual assault, their family, and their friends. We work to create a climate of safety and healing for all those impacted by sexual assault. All services are trauma-informed, victim-centered, are always free, and client confidentiality is very important to our staff and volunteers. Our services include:

24 Hour Hotline:

Advocates are available around the clock at 770-834-RAPE (7273) to provide crisis intervention to those impacted by sexual violence, their families, and their friends. Advocates are also available to provide information on the related topics of Alcohol and Other Date Rape Drugs, Body Safety, Bullying, Bystander Intervention, Cyber Safety, Healthy Relationships, HIV and Intimate Partner Violence, and issues important to the LGBT community.

Medical Accompaniment:

Advocates are available to support individuals who wish to receive medical attention or a forensic medical exam (FME) after a sexual assault. PARC also provides comfort kits that contain a change of clothes and personal care items that can be used after an FME.

Please know that receiving care from a hospital after a sexual assault does not obligate a person to file a police report.

Counseling Services:

PARC offers in-house counseling at no cost to individuals impacted by sexual assault or interpersonal violence. Forty-five minute weekly sessions are available to individuals who are eighteen years and older. For information regarding therapy services, please contact a Client Advocate at 770-834-8905.

Legal Advocacy:

It is an individual’s choice whether or not to report an assault to law enforcement. Advocates are available to accompany clients who would like support when reporting a sexual assault to area law enforcement agencies.

Advocates are also available to help provide support and information regarding the court system should the client choose to pursue the possibility of criminal prosecution. Please remember that an advocate is not an attorney, but there to support you and advocate on your behalf.

Victims Compensation Program Assistance:

Clients who choose to report to law enforcement may be eligible for compensation with the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program. This state program helps victims and their families through the emotional and physical aftermath of crime by easing the financial impact placed upon them by providing financial benefits for expenses. Our team is available to assist you with the application process.

Support Groups:

PARC provides free and confidential support groups in a safe, welcoming environment. The program is supervised by a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). For information regarding support groups, please contact a Client Advocate at 770-834-8905.

Medical Advocacy & Counseling Referrals:

The Advocacy team maintains a list of qualified medical professionals and counseling resources within Carroll, Coweta, Haralson, and Heard Counties. We emphasize finding the resources that fit your needs and situation.

Financial Assistance:

Because of our grantors and the generosity of our donors, PARC offers support to clients in need of emergency financial assistance and funds to facilitate counseling services.
